The Babadag Range of south-west Turkey (classical Mt. Cragus) rises out of the Fethiye plain, and stretches south 60km. to the west end of the Patara Beach. This western side of therange rises straight up from the sea forming gorges, headlands, small coves and beaches.
The ölüdeniz Bay and Lagoon immediately below the main peak is one of the most photographed beaches in the world. The heights are divided by a flood valley seperating the Anti-Cragus with the main Cargus peak at 1967 meters from the subsidiary peak of Karadag at 1400 meters.
The World Heritage Foundation has classified the mountain among the most important in the world, in urgent need of protection. This is due to the importance of its endemic species.
From time immemorable the mountains of the area have been regarded as sacred. Today Babadag (literally Father Mountain) is known for its prime paragliding and ancient cedar forests.
The range and its surrounding area form part of a unique and scientifically interesting area with spectacular scenery, known geologically as the Lycian Nappe. Though seemingly a rugged and inhospitable coastline, the area has been settled since pre-Lycian times.
You can enjoy the scenery of the pine-clad hills dipping into turquoise seas from your chaise-longe on the beach. If you feel adventurous, follow a beckoning goat-track winding up the mountain through Myrtle Laurel and Arbutus, or drive up through the cedar forests to paraglide off Babadag and land forty five minutes later beside the chaise-long on the beach!

| Here we see teh 1000 -meter take-off point. This aerial view of the take-off point allows us to see the drop off on the right
hand side of the photo. This summer when the cloud coverage made it difficult to take-off fromthe top of Babadag the 1000 meter take-off was used. This allowed the pilots to flyand some experienced pilots where able to climb up to 2000 meters. |

| The 1700 meter take-off is the favorite place to take off of Babadag. With the long runway and wide take-off that usually has pilots souring from both dynamic lift and thermal lift. The view from this take-off is spectacular allowing you to see Oludeniz and the blue lagoon. On a clear day one can see all the way to Rhodos. |

| This Picture shows the 1800 meters take-off point, on the North side of Babadag. This take-off point is used when there are strong winds on the top of the mountain. The views are excellent from here, with the Mendos mountains opposite and Fethiye çalış Beach below. |

| Here you can see the 1900-meter take-off point. This aerial view is just north-facing take-off point. The actual heights is 1960 meters or 6550 feet and it?s the highest point on Babadag mountain the wind comes from Patara. You can see the fire watch station in the photo below. The original pupose of the road was a fire watch station however the main purpose of the road now is to service the copious amounts of paragliders that fly from Babadag mountain every year. This site has a very short runway and a great deal of experiance is required to launch from here. |
